The West fears Russia is poised to invade Ukraine, but it seems the Kremlin has a bigger conquest in its sights – the Moon. Moscow today set out plans to conquer and colonise space, including a permanent manned moon base. Deputy premier Dmitry Rogozin said: ‘We are coming to the moon forever.‘

A Japanese beverage company has an out-of-this-world advertising idea. Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co. said it’s going to shoot a can filled with its beloved beverage Pocari Sweat and embossed with its logo to the moon. It will be the first commercial product ever sent there as a marketing stunt. Set to launch in October 2015, the can will be filled with a powdered version of the popular drink along with the dreams and wishes of 38,000 children from Asia etched inside… It will travel to the moon on the Elon Musk-created Falcon 9 rocket on its first mission to the moon…

It’s alive! … Sort of. Reports of the death of China’s first moon rover, Yutu, have been greatly exaggerated, according to the country’s state-run media. The Yutu moon rover, which suffered a potentially serious mechanical malfunction last month, is now awake and has apparently survived its second lunar night, China’s Xinhua news agency reported …
